Success stories

People only want to hear the so-called success stories of infertility, the ones that result in bouncing babies. It makes them feel good, and of course, they like that. It helps them to ignore the many stories that they sense, but aren’t told – the ones that make them uncomfortable, because they don’t fit the social narrative of happy families.

Yet these are the true success stories, the ones that overcome grief and loss and sadness to forge a new way, a way filled with compassion and love, a way that has to navigate through nasty comments or sly digs, a way that is ignored, rather than discussed, embraced, celebrated.
